Shirley Valentine... a day at the theatre

It was a beautiful day to travel to London and watch the play "Shirley Valentine" at the Grand Theatre. I laughed with Shirley as she rediscovered herself...from a boring middle-aged housewife, who talks to a wall to the real Shirley. In a one lady play, she continually asks herself what has happened to her life. A girlfriend pays for them to travel to Greece and there she finds an escape. Shirley is daring to venture beyond the person she has become and to reconnect with the person she once was. She tells her story in a humorous way and it is easy to identify with her. The leading actress is Nora McLellan - thank you Nora!!

Somebunny Loves You!

I created this card for the sketch challenge over at One Crazy Stamper and Your Next Stamp (stitching). I used a Bugaboo Bunny stamp, coloured with Copics. I zigzag stitched around the edge, added three tiny butterflies sprinkled with glitter, some ribbon and I made the sentiment up on the computer. I think she looks rather adorable!

Sweet Amy

Did you celebrate Earth Day last night?
We did...shut everything down. It was fun!

I was so excited to happen upon
Crafty Sentiments this weekend and
be able to use their stamp Amy for a card.
I used Copics and some Paper Studio
paper, MS border punch, added some
ribbon and a button. I am starting to
get the hang of the colour blending but
will need lots more practise!
I will enter this card into the challenge
at Craft Sentiments - Amy
Simon Says Stamp - Mother's Day/Girlie
My Time to Craft - ladies day

Butterfly Bear

After a silly week of snow....I think it's
time to warm up! The sun is shining and
that does soothe the soul! I attended a great
card making class this week and considered
entering one of the products...wink, wink,
Joanne....but decided that might be considered
cheating...you think? So I had some time this
afternoon and came up with one of my own!
I used Butterfly Bear (Bugaboo) and coloured
with Copics. The paper is Scenic Route, the
sentiment is from Kimmie's Stamps, and the
butterly is MS. The buttons were in my sewing
box. I added some glammer dust to the butterfly
and stickles to the wings and antennae which aren't too visible but it adds some glam! Thanks for visiting!

I will enter it into the following challenges:
LRW - butterflies
Catch the Bug - monochromatic
Shelly's Images - Think Warm (I am!)
Top Tip Tuesday - 3 buttons
Fairy Knoll FK#43 - Happy
Stamp Something - spring
Flutter by Wednesday - open

Canada Blooms...the flower and garden festival

Finally, after many years, we got to Toronto to visit Canada
Blooms at the Direct Energy Centre ......  WOW!!!
There were acres of flowers, plants, trees, and gardens.
The theme this year was "rhythms" a tribute to the JUNO Awards. There was a Marketplace where we could shop
and we were able to start Christmas shopping..... We came home with new cornstarch pots that are biodegradable and water
wicks and gadgets that my husband eyed.  I took a few pictures
but they do not do justice...
hope you enjoy!

Happy Birthday

March Break is almost over and I did paint the family room... yellow! It certainly is bright so I have lots of work to do to calm it down. Meanwhile, I had a birthday card that was a
must make for my SIL whose bday is the 24th. Over at Little Red Wagon, Joanne challenged us to use something office supply related on our creation. I used the Whiff of Joy Mouse stamp, coloured with Copics, put stickles on the cupcake,
used Cricut's Storybook for a label, and a MS border punch.
As the office supply, I added a bulldog clip to hold the sentiment. Now, I must remember to put it in the mail!

Luck of the Irish

I am going to visit my Mother for a few days and because she is as Irish as they come, thought I should take her a Paddy's Day card. I have always wanted to try out this cartridge Paper Doll Dress up and use my PK stamps. I cut the doll and pieces out of white and then used my Copics to colour. I had to have an orange/red beard....just seemed the right thing to do. I did not intend to enter it into any challenges but since Fantabulous Cricut is having "hip to be square" green and gold...why not? I don't use my Cricut for cards as much as I do layouts. Maybe this will inspire me! Happy St Patrick's Day everyone!!

He's one dapper dragon!

Another week has quickly passed by. I am terribly
tired of the snow, especially surprise snowstorms!
Next week is March Break in Ontario and so many
friends and their families are heading to warmer
climates. I can't blame them! I hadn't used this
little Bugaboo dragon before and enjoyed the
challenge with Copic markers. I also used Scenic
Route paper that I love and several Nestabilities.
I pierced the paper around the dragon and used
my sewing machine to add a tight zigzag around
the layered papers. I find the little guy bright and
cheery!
I will enter him into the following challenges:
LRW- green
Catch the Bug - anything goes
Simon Says Stamp -anything goes
Pile it On - up, up and away
Penny's Challenges - going for the green
PCJ Challenge - things with wings
TRCC - favourite die
Craft Your Passion - anything goes
Aly's Sunday Challenge - anything goes

This one's for you, Dad...

It was two years today that my Dad passed away. Only six months before was he diagnosed with colon cancer and he went fairly quickly. He never complained and was a real trouper in the last weeks. My Mom, brother and I were with him as he took his last breath and it was very peaceful.
Everyday I think if him and know how blessed I was to have him as my Dad. I try to walk in his footsteps. He was respected and admired by his colleagues.  He adored his grandchildren as they brought so much joy to his life as he did to theirs. Dad was a storyteller and experienced life to the fullest so he had many stories to tell. He taught the children to count, play cribbage, multiply before they were in school. I loved his joie de vivre! There was always a bounce in his step. He was a Christian and his faith was strong. My Mother and Dad were born the same day, month and year.....1917!! And yet born thousands of miles apart. Their fate was sealed the day they were born. My Mom misses him like crazy but knows he is enjoying his next life and that they will be reunited. I love you Dad.

Bugaboo Winner - Green with Envy

I was very excited when Tammy emailed me this morning to say I had won 2nd in their latest challenge! I love Bugaboo stamps...they are so cute and the image can speak a thousand words! The next challenge has been set and it is an anything goes.....
It is a wet day in S Ontario. I have just finished preparing four pans of strata for the Men's Breakfast Club at the church tomorrow. Is there something wrong with this picture? Behind every man is a good woman who does his cooking! lol
Have a great weekend!

Expression has arrived and green is the word!

My Expression finally arrived safe and sound today! Whew...another worry out of the way!
At Catch the Bug Challenge, they are asking us to follow their sketch and to make it green with envy. I used a Bugaboo stamp and coloured her with Copics, cut out the image with a Nestie, added some ribbon, distress ink and and then attempted to make mini spools and wrapped some twine around them. Enjoy!

Getting Excited!!

It has been three long weeks that my poor Expression had a meltdown and was packed off to Utah. I finally heard yesterday that it is on its way back home! I get a real kick out of "tracking" or "stalking" as some might prefer. I should be receiving it today...yahoo!! Fingers and toes are crossed.  This morning, I haven't been able to concentrate on my scrapbooking although it is coming along. Does anyone else find journaling the worst part? I had watched a video on how to make frames so decided that would be my learning curve today. It worked out and the colour does match the background although the pictures says something else. I am entering it into the challenge at Little Red Wagon where Rosanne chose "sentiment only" as
our directive.
