This one's for you, Dad...

It was two years today that my Dad passed away. Only six months before was he diagnosed with colon cancer and he went fairly quickly. He never complained and was a real trouper in the last weeks. My Mom, brother and I were with him as he took his last breath and it was very peaceful.
Everyday I think if him and know how blessed I was to have him as my Dad. I try to walk in his footsteps. He was respected and admired by his colleagues.  He adored his grandchildren as they brought so much joy to his life as he did to theirs. Dad was a storyteller and experienced life to the fullest so he had many stories to tell. He taught the children to count, play cribbage, multiply before they were in school. I loved his joie de vivre! There was always a bounce in his step. He was a Christian and his faith was strong. My Mother and Dad were born the same day, month and year.....1917!! And yet born thousands of miles apart. Their fate was sealed the day they were born. My Mom misses him like crazy but knows he is enjoying his next life and that they will be reunited. I love you Dad.

  1. What a lovely, lovely layout to your father, Linda. Your post has me in tears. Your father obviously left a lasting legacy for you and I am so pleased that you had such a wonderful man in your life. How interesting that your parents were born on the same day!! Please tell your mother that a stranger said a special prayer for her today. I said one for you, too, Linda.

  3. A beautiful tribute Linda! My Dad also passed away a couple of years ago and rarely does a day go by that I don't miss him terribly. May God hold all of you in His loving arms.
