Our ballroom dancing is over for the summer but we are having a potluck bbq tonight to celebrate our successes, triumphs and a few trials and tribulations. I made this wonderful, refreshing dessert. I hope you try it!
4 c pretzel sticks, coarsely ground
3 T granulated sugar
1/3 c melted butter
Mix and firmly press into a 9" pie plate. Bake 425 for 5-7 min. Place in freezer to cool.
5 c strawberry ice cream
1 lime
2 T tequila and orange flavoured liqueur
1 c sliced strawberries for garnish
When crust is cool, place slightly softened ice cream in a large bowl. Squeeze juice from lime, stir in tequila and liqueur. It's ok if mixture is lumpy....mixture should resemble a thick milkshake. Spoon into cooled crust and cover with plastic wrap and freeze until firm ( 4 hours) Let sit 10 min before serving and garnish if desired...yummy!!!

Solstice Reunion
We met online....the summer of 2009, chatting about the cruise each of us had planned and were going to take, making arrangements to share tours in ports of call. We discovered we lived within two hours of each other and suddenly we became "Team Ontario"! We met for the first time at theTrevi fountain in Rome...a bustling place, full of tourists and Romans out for a stroll, had dinner in a small restaurant together over beer and wine and became fast friends. It was as if we had known each other for years. Funny thing, even our husbands had a blast together! We met again last night, for the first time since our cruise, to have dinner and share our continuing life stories. What a memorable reunion! We're going to do it again....real soon!

Canada Day
Another dreary day, but I see the sun trying to peek out! It has been a great day to work on some scrapping. Thanks to Rosanne who directed me to Little Red Wagon, I am going to submit my first challenge! I enjoy the look of embossing so used some white embossing powder and a Nestabilites folder....added a white ribbon and used an old camera and ....voila! I think I need to learn how to take better pictures!!

School's Out
Happy Thursday afternoon! The sun is shining but it is humid. Today was my last day at school. I have been volunteering in a grade one class for a friend who had many challenging students this year. I enjoy being in the classroom but am quite happy to walk out later! She surprised me with a wonderful gift so I had to make her a thank you card and send it off immediately. I hope she likes it!

A Juicy Morning
Something is wrong with this picture: it's Wednesday, and the golfing gals golfed. It always rains on Wednesday so we rarely golf together. We made up for it today. Are we good? Hell no! But we can laugh and be silly and when the 9 holes are over, we walk away with a warm fuzzy feeling. Ok, I am speaking for myself now. We call ourselves the "Leen's" and we golf sporatically together. Lynn and Linda enjoy the thrill of searching for balls in any water source and Mar and Shirl stand and watch. I took a few pix to share...doesn't it look like we're having fun? Juice, girls!!
Shaking All Over
Quick post...we just had our first earthquake of the century! It was a little one, less than 20 seconds but one nonetheless. I was on the phone with our daughter who works in Toronto and she was the first to notice that her desk was shaking. At first, she wondered if it had anything to do with the G20. What excitement!!

The First One is the Hardest
They say "better late than never" and it is getting late! It was a busy day full of appointments and our last ballroom dance lesson tonight. I did manage to squeeze in one layout this afternoon. We went to Vegas with friends several years ago and the pictures are still sitting on the desk so I decided to do something about it. Getting out all the paper and making a decision on how it was going to start, took way too long so I quickly whipped it up and now I have that monkey off my back! The first of many pages is done. I know I will add to it but it is a simple layout using two 4x6" photos. I used "George" to cut the letters and added a tag that I covered, added ribbon then journalled on the back. I tucked it into the bottom picture with the top showing. Hope you like it!

Summertime
It's officially here....SUMMER!! Longest day of the year....yahoo! We had the best Father's Day yesterday with the kids coming home for the day. Our son Matt provided a delicious pulled pork dish and I had a variety of cold salads ready to go...carrot, pasta and broccoli. A dip in the pool, a few cold drinks and we had the makings of a perfect day! Our daughter Cat helped me with my blog. How did you celebrate the day?
